This is the website of Andrew Loughnan / Group Five, producer from Wellington, New Zealand. I write and play instrumental abstract-hip-hop stuff. You can find some of it on this website.
You can also find stuff about what I'm up to, or interested in, playlists from my radio shows, thoughts about music, or anything that I can construe as being "about music" (like monkeys, for example).
Despite the "group" in the name, I'm a solo artist (yeah I know I'm spelling it out, but I get asked...) I've also worked with Michael Upton (aka Jet Jaguar) and Stuart McDonald (aka Aquaboogie). We have a little label project for releasing ourselves, called Angry Rabbit.
(The name Group Five comes from Dian Fossey's book Gorillas in the Mist, after a family group of mountain gorillas. I was looking for a name and I thought it sounded good at the time, and not at all like a consulting agency, security firm or engineering practice. So I was wrong. I was probably also wrong about the need for a name in the first place.)
