This just in: Report from the Auckland gig

Group Five in performanceThe Auckland gig went pretty well. First up went Bignificent D (aka our chum Dave), playing an eclectic selection of downbeat materials, plus our good friend Pierre Omaar, who is anything but downbeat.

This moved seamlessly into Group Five's set featuring old favourites and new material, the highlight of which featured the guitar 'bling!' from A Hard Day's Night.

Then Malty Media did their transcendental drugged out hippy shit and Jet Jaguar stayed on for an immaculate set of craftiness.

Crowd was good; we made a small profit even. Very nice.

We took some photos. First up is Andy looking grainy. Perhaps it might be ruining the mystery, but that white thing he was playing on top of was a crate of Coca Cola.

The second photo is of Malty Media. Equal partner and in no way hanger on Aquaboogie played seated, possibly with a rug over his knees to keep them warm.

Malty Media dans la maison.

And finally, apropos of nothing (which is what this is all about), a picture of the gannet colony at Muriwai we took earlier in the day.

Gannet, Janet

(These birds are actually pretty impressive in the flesh. I came away with a new found respect for the mighty gannet.)

Now it's on to home town Wellington for more Mayhem on the 29th.
